Inspired by his friend Mr. Arnaud, a restaurant owner and distinguished owner of Chateau Cabrieres and Chateau Maucoil in the Châteauneuf-du Pape region in France, Barbare Vineyards tale begins in 2000 when Can Topsakal decided to join the exciting world of winemaking after completing his university education in France. His quest to find the most suitable soil and microclimate for his vineyards took him on a journey from Çeşme in the Aegean region to Tekirdağ in the Thrace region in Turkey. Subsequently, Topsakal purchased 57 acres of land in Tekirdağ to establish Barbare Vineyards and set forth on making his dream a reality with Xavier Vignon, a prominent oenologist and wine consultant for numerous Chateau Wineries in France.
This journey has grown with the establishment of Barbaros Vineyard House in 2013. Our vineyard house locates in the middle of 230 acres of vineyards in the village of Yazır Karaağaçlık, on the hills of the Barbaros region in Tekirdağ. With a philosophy of “giving back to earth, what we have taken from the earth”, we do organic, sustainable, and biodynamic agriculture. You’re invited to the heart of our vineyards, Barbaros Vineyard House is open for your visit during the year.

More than just a consultant for Barbare Wines, Vignon is in total charge of monitoring the vineyards as well as every step of the winemaking process. Once a month he travels from France to visit and oversee the activities at the Vineyards and spends most of his time at Barbare during the grape harvest season.

Vines were planted (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache & Mourvedre).
The first wine was produced (Cabernet Sauvignon).
First bottling was made (for the wine produced in 2007).
Barbaros Vineyard House was opened with 6 rooms.
Sauvignon Blanc was planted.
Our Vineyard house has expanded with 12 additional rooms.
14 additional rooms were added.
